Welcome to the Mid-America Alpaca Foundation
In September of 2004 the Mid-America Alpaca Show Board drafted the outline for the Mid-America Alpaca Foundation. The Foundation was created to address the concerns of many alpaca breeders who were having difficulty finding veterinarians with alpaca experience. It was apparent that there was a need for more “Alpaca Vets”.
The Foundation was incorporated as a 501(c) 3 charitable education foundation June 23rd, 2005. The Foundation relies on proceeds from the non-profit Mid America Alpaca Show and the generous support of alpaca owners and breeders to fulfill it’s mission.
The mission of the Foundation is rather simple:
Improve the quality of health care for alpacas. Achieve this by introducing veterinary students to alpacas during the college experience and provide educational opportunities to practicing veterinarians focused on alpaca care and knowledge.
